Economic Guru 2010 finalists selected

The finalists in the nationwide Economic Guru 2010 challenge have been selected. A total of 108 senior high schools participated in the demanding preliminary round, and the following 10 competitors qualified for the finals.

In the nationwide preliminary challenge held on 14 January 2010, the participants used the knowledge from their economy lessons by, among other things, comparing monetary and fiscal stimulation and assessing the economic prospects for households. The finals will be held in Helsinki on 4–5 March 2010.

Arranged for the 13th time, the Economic Guru challenge is a joint project of the Association of History and Civics Teachers, the Bank of Finland and the Federation of Finnish Financial Services, with support from the Financial Journalists’ Association. The aim is to find and foster individuals with potential to become economic specialists, and to encourage high school students to increase their knowledge of economic matters.
